Outbreaks and patterns of HIV/AIDS in advanced Asian countries

Abstract
Objectives:The prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is still high in numerous countries. The extensive rates of the HIV infection are generally seen among the homosexual men, and the HIV infection is also frequently occurring among heterosexual men and women. Furthermore, HIV is the cause of acquired immune deficiency syndromes (AIDS).

Methods:The comparison of trends in HIV/AIDS cases reported and patterns of HIV/AIDS transmission in selected Asian countries: Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and Korea during 1991 and 2015.

Results:The number of HIV/AIDS outbreaks has been increasing annually in all countries which analyzed in this study, especially since 2010. There are many reasons for the occurrence of HIV/AIDS, but among other things, the most common cause was men who have sex with men.

Conclusions:International exchanges are becoming more active and social care for sex minorities are increasing.
However, young people are not fully aware of the risk of HIV infection and AIDS. In addition to the efforts of individual countries to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS, collaboration and information sharing between countries are required.
